An Amazing Three Weeks
So I’ve been at MiT for three weeks now (yikes!). I have been as busy as my blog shows (no entries=no time). However, I felt the urge to share a little bit of what’s been going on because of how it has affected me.
Orientation was great. We learnt a lot of things about MiT and about being internationals in the US. Our coordinators put a lot of effort into making sure we had a great time. Plus, all the Activities midways etc. really showed us all MiT has to offer.
FAP was one of the best experiences of my life. We had an amazing time chilling, playing music, visiting museums, and just about anything else you can think of (yes, even sleeping in the room on mattresses and couches). We visited so many beautiful places (like a park in Harvard square and Boston Commons) and participated in fun events (like Improv comedy). Our talent show and other artistic shows were amazing!!! And everyone in FAP was awesome (counselors, coordinators, freshmen). I’m glad I decided not to drop it (I was contemplating it with the hectic schedule I had).
After that, Rush week started. basically, it’s when you go around seeing all the Frats and Sororities at MiT, and eventually you may or may not get a bid, which you then accept if you choose to do so (called pledging). I spent all my time with my friends looking at frats (because sorority life does not suit me). Ragheb and I spent most of our time with a bunch of amazing people who have been our mentors, older siblings, and entertainers over the past few weeks. They are known on campus as No.6, the Co-ed frat. They were awesome enough to give us both bids, and I pledges yesterday =). Now nobody get this wrong; frats at MiT are nothing like the movies, and No.6 is even better (as in none of the whole drink till you puke to pledge, or party insanely stuff). Hanging out with amazing people, having intellectual discussions about the world, and a game of pool every now and again (or Guitar Hero). I owe so much of my getting used to MiT to No.6 (I will not list member names to avoid forgetting some).
Lastly, we started classes 3 days ago. It’s been hectic, and we already have a ton of reading and homework to do (and P-sets have already been assigned for like 5 days from now). I hate the fact that I’m not getting much in Math and Physics, because it’s not a feeling I’m used to. Thankfully though, Ragheb and Ziad have been nice enough to help me with Physics, and Ziad walked me through a few math problems the other day (and promised to continue to do so and make sure I don’t fall behind).
Oh I almost forgot to mention how affected I was the other night at No.6. We had “Conversations”, meaning the whole room discusses a few topics related to one another. The intellect and stimulation I found in the members of No.6 and my pledge-siblings (as in the other freshmen who were there) was just amazing. The amount of knowledge and thought in that room of people between 18 and 22 was just... Mind-blowing!!!! Thank you guys so much for making me see how amazing you guys are, and then inviting me to be a part of it. I’m so sad some of you will be leaving in 9 months (I know, we’re still at the first week and I’m thinking of the end of the year). I hope no one got offended/upset that I didn’t pledge to them. If I didn’t feel it would be impersonal, I would have pledged to the whole house. However, I needed to emphasize how much a couple of people meant to me, so I had to spend over 5 hours deciding who to pledge to.

I AM...
AT MiT!!!! And I love it!!!!
I’m doing FAP this week (which is a Freshman Preorientation Program (FPOP) in Art)... So I am getting no sleep because we are there 8.30-12 every day.
Anyway, so I have so much to tell you all about this awesome place (and a LOT of funny pictures and stories... Plus videos that may be useable in the long run). Oh, also photos for Paul (I won’t forget don’t worry).
Dying... Goodnight...

HASS-Ds
I got a question today, so i thought I'd post all the facts here, for everyone.
"So you are allowed to take your Hass D class even if you did not pass the FEE? If your Hass-D class is also a CI-H, can it be counted to cover the communication requirement?"
1- If a HASS-D is a CI-H (which is mostly the case) then it counts for both HASS and Communication... meaning the Humanities requirement is not separate from the Communication one
2- You can take a HASS-D / CI-H course without passing the FEE... HOWEVER, you will get HASS-D credit for it, but not CI-H credit for it
3- In order to get CI-H credit, you need to pass the FEE or a CI-HW
4- Once you get a HASS-D, you are not guaranteed to get it again if you give it up... Meaning if you got a HASS-D that you LOVE now... Go ahead and take it, because you may never be able to take it.

Update
So I finally finished my blogger application and had dad read it for me (thankfully he liked it) so I sent it in!!!
Second, I finished my cabinet and hopefully I’ll put up pics of the room soon.
Third, I got into the Abrahamic Faiths: Conversation advising seminar =)
Fourth, FEE results just came out: Surprisingly, I passed!!! =D Meaning I can take a Humanities course and avoid the writing classes.
Fifth, HASS-D results just came out: Introduction to History and Theory of Architecture.
Oh, and Montreal is awesome!!!

HANDY(WO)MAN
I had a very productive day, and my arms are sore to tell the tale (yes, every key I hit on the keyboard hurts, but I do it for my readers ;P).
We went to iKEA to buy some stuff my brother needed (happily, I shopped for a few university things myself; pillows, blankets, a lamp, a rug, etc.). Although, I wish I didn’t have to take them on the 7 hour drive...
Anyway so my brother had a bed and a small bed-side drawer thing at home already, in boxes, and we bought a different drawer-cabinet for that room. We spent 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. putting the first 2 together (and then he left to get dinner while I finished the bed).
After dinner, I decided to act heroic (since Mish and mom went to a grocery store) and so I started up the other drawer chest. Now, there were a few pieces missing, not to mention the instructions, but I winged it and have it all up except for the base which is not in the box...
Now I think I’ll go crash....

A Day at Sea
It was very relaxing. I attended a PhotoShop class by college professor Stan Leva.
I mustn’t forget to mention the great shows on the ship throughout this week. One production of pieces of Broadway shows, another of award-winning sings and an amazing Tango dance. Plus, a great show by an award-winning Piano comic, and a hilarious Ventriloquist.
